Facebook hacks, cybercrime, government surveillance, and all of that aside, the biggest reasons to be concerned involve the greater good of our society.
Most people respond to conversations about these topics by saying or thinking, “Oh, they can already see, read, and hear everything anyway so who cares?” or “I don’t have anything to hide” but those perceptions are dangerous and also not true.
Besides revealing the ignorance of those who repeat them, those comments have nothing to do with the question: why do security and privacy matter?
